What is a Buddy?
A buddy is an additional authorized person who accompanies a NanoFab user (who has logged 100+ hours in the cleanroom) while working inside the CHTM NanoFab during off-hours.
The buddy must be capable of assisting in an emergency.
Any CHTM NanoFab user who has completed the NanoFab orientation can be a buddy. The buddy does not need 100 hours.
It is the NanoFab user’s responsibility to arrange a buddy for off-hours work.
Eligibility & Responsibilities
- Eligibility: Completed NanoFab orientation; current user in good standing.
- Presence: Buddy must be physically present inside the facility during off-hours work.
- Readiness: Able to respond and assist during emergencies; familiar with safety procedures.
- Conduct: Adhere to gowning, chemical handling, and tool protocols at all times.
Definitions
- Regular Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM.
- Off-Hours: Any time outside regular hours, weekends, and holidays.
